About Kirby
Pastry Chef Kirby Delgado is an Omaha, Nebraska native. Kirby studied Culinary Arts at Iowa Western Community College and received degrees in Baking/Pastry Art as well as Culinary Management. While in college at IWCC, Kirby was a member of multiple different outlets including the Track/Field team, Various Choirs/Ensembles, and Phi Thetta Kappa. Kirby was also the president of the Food Tech club on campus. He also worked part-time while in school for Caesars Entertainment supplying baked goods for multiple outlets within Horseshoe/Harrahs Casino. All this while maintaining a 4.0 GPA!
Although he is very grateful for the connections culinary school gave him, a lot of his experience comes from working within the industry. Once graduating with honors, Kirby worked for a corporate food provider, Guckenheimer at Google. During his tenure with Guckenheimer, Kirby was a Line Cook before being promoted to Pastry Chef where he picked up many trades. He has also worked at restaurants such as Della Costa, First Round and has even done corporate entities such as Union Pacific and Chef Around the Block.
Today, he operates KirbKakes Bakery & Pastry out of his home in Council Bluffs, IA with hopes of finding a brick and mortar in the near future. Kirby helps people by making a wide array of pastries, cakes and baked goods for coffee shops, private dinners, birthdays, and more!
